How to show your boyfriend you care about him

One of the ways to keep the spark in a relationship going is by doing special things for each other. They don’t have to cost money, but just let your partner know how much your relationship means to you. Love is so special and should be cherished.

There are many ways to show your boyfriend that you care about him. Some examples include:

  • Spend quality time together and actively listen to him when he talks. Put your phone away when you spend time together and be with him.
  • Show physical affection, such as hugs and kisses.
  • Giving him thoughtful gifts or surprises (they don’t have to cost a lot. It’s the thought that counts).
  • Cook or bake for him.
  • Help him out with tasks or errands.
  • Be supportive of his goals and dreams and encourage him to follow them.
  • Be honest and open with him about your feelings.
  • Show an interest in his hobbies and interests.
  • Say “I love you” often and mean it.
  • Make your BF, husband, GF, or wife an award to let them know how much you love them.

How do you know how your partner wants to receive love?

Everyone expresses and receives love differently, so what works for one person may not work for another. It’s also important to communicate with your boyfriend and ask him what he feels most loved and valued by.

According to Dr. Gary Chapman, a relationship counselor, and author, there are five primary ways that people give and receive love. Dr. Chapman calls them the “Five Love Languages”. Each person uses a different language to express love and wants to receive love in one of these Love Languages. The Five Love Languages are:

  1. Words of Affirmation: Verbal expressions of love and appreciation, such as compliments, “I love you” or “I’m proud of you.” If this is your partner’s language then give compliments as often as you can.
  2. Quality Time: Giving your partner undivided attention and spending quality time together. If this is your partner’s language you can schedule date nights once a week and be present (put your phone away).
  3. Receiving Gifts: Giving gifts as a way to show love and affection. If this is your partner’s language you can give small gifts such as the award certificates above.
  4. Acts of Service: Doing things to help your partner, such as doing household chores or running errands.
  5. Physical Touch: Showing love through physical touch, such as holding hands, hugging, or cuddling.

Dr. Chapman argues that everyone has a “primary love language” – the way they feel most loved – and that understanding and speaking your partner’s love language can help improve your relationship.
